Enjoy delicious light refreshments, catch up with friends, learn of our judges’ top three Milestone Celebrations” designs, (click to read design descriptions and plant lists), and enjoy our speaker Barry Burton on Designing an Award Winning Garden.” Barry will delve into his design process in developing his award-winning gardens at Erma Henderson Park in Detroit. Barry is project manager for City of Detroit General Services working on Green Space renovations, including parks, parkways, boulevards, and freeway beautification.

Henderson Park Tour Bonus: Barry will also lead a tour of his award-winning gardens at Emma Henderson Park on Thursday, September 22 at noon. The park is located at 8800 E. Jefferson (corner of Burns, across from Indian Village). A tour sign-up sheet will be available at Awards Tea or call or email the Garden Center (below).

The Garden Center is celebrating the 70th Anniversary of its Trial Gardens, commissioned and installed in 1952. Learn about the history of the gardens and the 18th-century French millstone, a focal point of the gardens.
