
Join us in celebrating our 75th Anniversary! From our humble beginning in 1950 to our vibrant Garden Center today. Light refreshments will be followed by a business meeting, announcement of our 2026 Trial Gardens competition theme, and reveal of Robert Fionda’s original watercolor painted exclusively for our 34th Annual Garden Tour. To close the event, our featured speaker, Alaine Bush, will give a presentation on the interesting history and evolution of the Grosse Pointe Garden Center…. 75 Years and Growing!

Alaine Bush has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana University. However, she has been a professional gardener since 2003. She became a certified MSU Extension Advanced Master Gardener in 2006. Alaine is the chief designer, and the lead gardener of the Garden Center’s Veterans Garden since 2009. She has served on Garden Center’s Board of Directors since 2016. Alaine is also on the Urban Forestry Commission for the City of Grosse Pointe, since 2017. She has received several awards including, an Individual Service Award in 2021 from the Beautification Council of Southeastern Michigan, the Marion Thompson Fuller Brown Conservation Award from The Garden Club, of Michigan in 2023, and an MSUE 2500 Lifetime Volunteer Hours Achievement in 2025.
