Co-sponsors, Grosse Pointe Garden Center and The Garden Club of Michigan, are bringing back, by popular demand, Christina Funk, Lead Naturalist at The Stage Nature Center. Christina will be introducing a couple of live owls in her presentation, All About Owls. Learn about their habitats, prey and other foods, nesting requirements, and so much more you probably never knew about these intriguing birds of prey.
Christina Funk is Lead Naturalist at Stage Nature Center, bringing expertise in environmental education and community engagement to the Detroit metro area. Her background reflects a strong focus on nature conservation and the delivery of impactful education programs. Prior to her role at Stage Nature Center, Christina served as an Education Specialist at Bat Conservation International, contributing to conservation, education, and research efforts. Her work history includes a tenure as a Program Presenter at Cranbrook Institute of Science, where she inspired exploration of the natural world through interactive exhibits and educational programs. Earlier in her career, Christina was a Park Interpreter at Arkansas State Parks, engaging with the natural and cultural resources of the region. She also served as an Education Assistant at Five Rivers MetroParks, providing outdoor education, recreation, and conservation services to the community. The Lloyd A. Stage Nature Center sits on 100 acres of land that is meant to educate everyone, young or old, about the world of nature. The Nature Center, operated by the Troy Nature Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is located at 6685 Coolidge Hwy., Troy, MI 48098. The Center offers outdoor adventure programs where children explore Michigan’s natural habitats through hiking, wildlife observation, and hands-on learning.
